Tips to get the most out of your
courier service
How do I get a quote
from Disher Courier for courier service?
At Disher Courier we offer a number of different methods
of providing quotes to our clients. They can be requested
verbally over the phone, by email, fax or from our
"Contact Us" page on our website at
www.dishercourier.com.
Most clients, when looking for a quote, don't have a lot
of time and just want a quick rate. This is usually provided
verbally over the phone accompanied with an order or quote
number for reference. More in-depth quotes can be requested
over the phone and are usually accompanied with a fax or
email request. Clients know what they want but don't
necessarily know the best way to get it. We quickly try to
assess their needs and provide solutions and
rates.

Courier Saves the Day for SCL
Imaging!
 SCL Imaging produces cost-effective,
high quality imaging solutions for leading organizations
in North America. SCL Imaging offers design, production,
finishing and distribution services to a variety of
different markets such as retail, sports, ad
agencies, government and financial, to name just a few.
SCL recently had an urgent shipment, bound for
Brampton, Ontario, that had originally been arranged for
delivery with an overnight carrier. However, the
other carrier never arrived to pick up the shipment. By
6:00 pm, Trina at SCL Imaging could see that they were
not going to come through. If she waited any longer, the
shipment would definitely not be arriving to the client
by the deadline.
Strapped for time, trying to do everything that she
could to ensure that the shipment got to their client on
time, Trina quickly made an executive
decision and called Disher. A Disher representative
answered the phone at 6:30 pm and assured Trina that
they would get the job done.
With only a two hour window of time to work with,
they had to act fast. By 6:45 pm, Disher Courier had
arranged for 2 full sized vans and 2 mini vans to pick
up the shipment in Scarborough, Ontario and transport it
to its destination in Brampton, Ontario before the
deadline of 9 pm. The shipment arrived safely, and
before deadline; saving SCL Imaging the
embarrassment of missing a promised deadline.
As always, Disher Courier went out of their way to
get that shipment out on time; coming through for Trina
and SCL Imaging. This is why Disher Courier is quickly
becoming the first choice of many for critical
deliveries, as well as daily or weekly delivery needs.
We are always ready to go above and beyond for our
clients, even with short notice.

Broker/Employee of the
Month
George Rasiah is probably the most reliable driver
we have. Over the years George continues to be the most
mistake free driver by far. He is also one of the
easiest drivers to work with. George repeats
all his dispatcher's instructions and is
constantly in touch with his dispatch always
informing us of his location.
George will notice things that most drivers don't.
He recently had an order that had 15 boxes. Fourteen of
the boxes were labelled to one address with one single
box labelled slightly different. Same street name but
instead of 66 Wellesley the one box was labelled 77
Wellesley. George noticed it and brought it to our
attention. The client clarified the matter and all was
well. Most drivers, most people would not have noticed
this subtle difference.
For drivers to excel in this industry hustling is
the name of the game and it becomes very easy to
overlook things, not double check yourself leaving
oneself open and vulnerable to mistakes. To
excel, a driver must have a high level of
focus, concentration, organization and good
preparational skills (planning ahead). George has a PHD
in focus and concentration.
George is one of the many reasons why our clients
keep coming back and why they feel that we are # 1 in
their hearts. George is our June Broker/Employee of
the Month. You'll recognize George by his light
blue Disher Courier golf shirt. Congratulations
George and congratulatons as you are
approaching your tenth anniversary with Disher

Reducing Your Carbon
Footprint
The
first step in stopping climate change and reducing your
carbon footprint is to find out what it is. All
carbon footprint calculators use the same basic
method to figure out the carbon footprint of a person.
This method utilizes a series of questions to figure out
how many tons of CO2 are produced by your
lifestyle.
There
are some areas that most carbon calculators will cover.
These are household, appliances, and travel. A carbon
footprint can be calculated for an individual or for an
entire family. The more accurate and specific the
information entered, the more accurate the carbon
reading will be. Some calculators for finding your
carbon footprint will even include food.
How many people are living in your home?
How many rooms are in your home? There will also be
questions pertaining to the insulation and how much is
spent each year on the electrical costs of the home.
While this information is not necessary for most
calculators, that results will be more accurate when it
is provided. The types of electrical
appliances in the home, along with their age and energy
ratings, will also have an effect on your carbon
footprint. There will be a difference seen when they are
left on standby versus being turned off completely.
Another area involved in calculating the carbon
footprint is travel. How many flights are taken during
the year and how long those flights are is another
factor. Do you use public transportation or your own
vehicles? What is the model and gas mileage gotten from
your vehicle? How do you find a calculator
to assist you in determining what your carbon footprint
is? There are a few carbon footprint calculators
currently available online. A few are considered to be
rather comprehensive, as they even give suggestions for
ways to reduce the impact that you have on the
environment.

Condos Keep Real Estate Market Going
Strong
Toronto has one of the hottest
markets for real estate; the downtown area especially.
However, with the economy in the shape that it is and
the average prices of Toronto homes exceeding the
$350,000 mark, many individuals just cannot afford a
traditional home. So what other options are there when
you want to own a piece of real estate in Toronto?
Condos...
These comfy and often ultra-plush
pads can sometimes be even easier to own than a
traditional home - and the price is a lot more
reasonable for those on a limited budget. In fact, since
the majority of condos now offer many of the more modern
home amenities, the playing field has become much more
level. This is why many cash conscientious buyers are
choosing to go with a condo vs. the traditional home.
Well, that and the $100,000 or more that they can save.
Individuals should be aware that, just
like traditional homes, the price of a condo in the
Toronto area is going up with each passing year. The
average current price for a condo in Toronto runs about
$235,000. Yet, deals still do exist, and it's not
unreasonable to find an offering for $165,000 or less
located in a fairly nice area.
